Can Fast-Growing Regions Lead on Sustainability? Denver & Northern Colorado Say Yes.

With rapid population growth and increasing visitation, the Denver and Northern Colorado region faced an urgent question: How can we continue to welcome travelers while protecting the very resources that make this place special?

Through a partnership with the Colorado Tourism Office, Dave Santucci and Andrea Dietz helped craft the region’s first Destination Stewardship Strategic Plan. The result is a 10-year roadmap shaped by more than 200 stakeholders—one that tackles pressing challenges like housing affordability, inclusivity, environmental protection, and cultural preservation.

From elevating the local music scene to creating youth stewardship programs and advancing eco-friendly transit, the plan blends community values with tourism strategy in bold, practical ways.
